Yacht Owners Leverage Their Hobby To Drive New, Lucrative Deals For Their Business.

March 15th, 2007 by BTodd

Corporate executives, chief financial officers and procurement directors alike have become wary of accepting invitations to golf outings, customer retreats or lavish dinners from key suppliers. Although a standard practice just a few years ago these occasion for intimate client bonding have become suspect in an environment where professional decision making is under an ethical microscope.

At the same time these very corporate executives have ravenousness appetites for learning about creative insights, advice or strategies that might give them an advantage in an extremely competitive year.  In short, educate them and they will come, entertain them and they will think twice.

Bill Todd, corporate motivational speaker and business coach reports that a growing number of his executive clients are leveraging their Yacht as a venue for small intimate business seminars.  “It is a classic win / win situation, the buyer is more likely to attend an educational event and the seller gets to spend a great deal of relaxed, quality time with their client. Todd, co-author with Stephen Covey of Speaking of Success autographs a first edition copy of the new book as the sole corporate gift for each attendee.

Business is conducted, friendships are made and the client takes away a very appropriate reminder of their day on the water. “Management guru Tom Peters taught me years ago that customers would drop their long time providers today if they could just find someone who was more fun to do business with” said Bill Todd
