The Fleurtje crew last night held a well attended charity event at the Mad Mongoose Bar in Falmouth Harbour, Antigua. The event was held in aid of the Amazing Grace Foundation in Antigua. Amazing Grace is a small home for children with special needs or disabilities.

Skipper Bill Bailey generously gave his head of hair to charity. Everyone got a chance to snip for a donation of a few dollars. The sissors were blunt but the enthusiasm wasn’t! Eventually it was left to crew member Brett to complete the job with shears. Fleming, a locally based Engineer, got into the act and left bald.

The crew served the drinks and held games to raise cash. The cannon shoot run by Ran was very popular. The police however considered it to be a bit distracting and asked the lads to give it up! To their credit they were late arriving and the shooting had already raised good money. Besides I think we were all pretty sick of the noise by then.

An auction was held of various items of clothing, including a crew members pants, which he was wearing. One of the funiest was that someone bet an awful amount of money to go fishing in the tender with Rob McDonald, Flertje’s other skipper. As Rob is away I guess he will be suprised on his return.
