FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA:  Island Global Yachting (IGY), one of the world’s premier owners, developers and managers of luxury marinas and yachting lifestyle destinations, announced that it has closed on its acquisition of Sun Resorts International (SRI) and its subsidiary Sun Resorts Management (SRM).  SRI and SRM own and manage many of the top marinas in North America. 

Valanecia. Wednesday 16th May,2007. Spanish home team, Desafío Español 2007, beat Emirates Team New Zealand for the first time after 10 matches at the 32nd America’s Cup. The Spanish team badly needed the victory. The result closes up the score in their best of nine Semi Final match to 2-1 with the Kiwis leading. It was a convincing win, with helmsman Karol Jablonski putting a penalty on the Emirates Team New Zealand in the pre-start.  Desafío Español 2007 then led Emirates Team New Zealand around the course, extending away on the second lap for a comprehensive win.

The Rolex Capri Sailing Week runs from May 15th to the 19th and is organised by the Yacht Club Capri in collaboration with the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda. A record fleet of 54 boats have entered in 4 classes- Farr 40s, Swan 45s, Mini Maxis and Comets. 11 nations are represented- Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, USA and Japan.

Royal Island, Bahamas, is growing up fast according to the developers. Phase one of construction is complete on the Preview Village consisting of three guest suites, a fitness facility and a restaurant. Road construction across the island, as well as operations and office infrastructure are progressing on-schedule and continue to be on-going. In mid-April, the initial clearing of the golf course was started for a working session by Jack Nicklaus. Additionally, Royal Island’s yacht facility at the Bluffs on Eleuthera, “the Dock House”, will be completed in the coming weeks. San Francisco-based SB Architects is leading the project’s design team alongside land planning firm EDSA, marina and coastal design consultant Moffatt & Nichol, and golf course design firm Nicklaus Design.
