Jody Hill Fundraising Website

April 16th, 2007 by charlotte

JodyPositive.com

This website has been created to raise funds for Jody Hill a popular and experienced yacht skipper, most recently aboard the 1936 classic ‘Flicka’.  Jody was involved in a serious accident in the British Virgin Islands in May 2006.  The car he was travelling in rolled down an embankment leaving him with severe spinal injuries.  He has been left paralysed from the waist down.

Jody has been in hospital just about ever since.  At this stage there is very little hope of recovery and with big medical bills Jody needs help!

Model Boat Racing is a popular sport in Antigua

April 16th, 2007 by yachtbud

The 11th Annual Model Boat Races were held on Sunday April 15th, 2007 at The Catamaran Hotel, Falmouth Harbour, Antigua. This popular event even has a ‘Concourse D’Elegance’! 15 Model Boats were on show and model boat racing took place in 4 ft, 5ft, 6ft and 7 ft classes. Model building has been taking place for years in Antigua and the quality of the finish of the boats and the abilities of the model boat racers is renowned. The ‘Concourse D’Elegance’ was well attended equally by local boatbuilders, yachties and the occasional tourist. Judging was done by several yachting fundies and covered best finish, best rig and best hull amongst others. Great local food was served and a steel band bashed out the tunes. With good trade winds led to some fast sailing.
